Plenty to see & do in the area

Apart from being the obvious base for those wishing to climb some very challenging mountains, Glenbrittle is absolutely perfect for anyone seeking a peaceful location to recharge the batteries, with just the sound of waterfalls, the colours of the changing seasons and the enormous variety of wildlife in the area. Glen Brittle Forest and the headland offer many miles of mountain bike trails and there are also lower level coastal and river walks for those less adventurous climbers.

Eas Mor 'the grandest waterfall on Skye' is a short walk from the cottage and the enchanting Fairy Pools are also found in the glen. The nearby sandy beach, one of the largest on Skye, is a very special place, with the majestic mountains behind and views out to the isles of Rhum and Canna. There is a huge variety of wildlife in this beautiful location and golden eagles, sea eagles and otters have been spotted at or near the property. Boat trips available locally afford sightings of minke whales, basking sharks, seals, dolphins, porpoises, otters, sea-eagles and puffins.

Other local attractions worth a visit include the Talisker distillery and the Old Inn, both in the nearest village of Carbost. Also on the island are Dunvegan Castle, the renowned Three Chimneys Restaurant and the Aros Centre, which displays local art and hosts theatre productions.

Absolutely wonderful holiday. Cottage very comfortable, the view is fantastic. Wildlife is fantastic - seen eagles nearly every day.
